Users are encouraged to apply for grant funding to cover an access fee of £1000 (excl. VAT) per day. Successful applicants will be granted direct access to the facility, without needing to submit a separate application through the time allocation panel, provided that the PI has secured outline approval (see form below) from the facility prior to submitting the application; a letter of support from the facility will be provided.
Free-at-the-point-of-use access may also be requested via the form below ("request for access"). This forms needs to include a proposal for the use of the facility time. Specifically, this proposal must include the following sections to be considered by the time allocation panel, who meet every 6 months:
Context/background of the investigation.
Preliminary solid-state NMR data or a suitable explanation as to why this has not been obtained.
Justification for the need for DNP or low-temperature (100 K) MAS NMR spectroscopy and, if applicable, a justification for the preference of a particular site for the measurements.
Experiments to be performed, including probe configurations (e.g. HCN), required MAS and RF nutation frequencies, and on which samples; for guidance, please contact us.
Justification for the type of access requested (standard, urgent, or block) and how many days of access are requested (at each site if applicable).
The deadlines for applications are 31st May and 30th November, annually.
Applicants are also advised that the UK High-Field Solid-State NMR Facility (hosted at the University of Warwick) provides access for high-field solid-state NMR spectroscopy at 850 MHz and 1 GHz and solid and solution NMR spectroscopy at 1.2 GHz (note that the management and time allocation procedure of the UK High-Field Solid-State NMR Facility is separate from and independent of the UK DNP MAS NMR Facility).
